Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if you can provide in person services?

  • We have therapists in Orange County and San Diego County that can provide in person services. We are also available for in person services in upstate New York. It is best to contact us directly with your zip code/city to inquire if we are able to conduct in person visits.

If I am a client of the San Diego Regional Center (SDRC), can I request you for OT/PT/Speech services?

  • Yes! Please contact us directly to discuss your availability and location. If those align with a therapist’s availability, we are happy to work with you! Our vendor number for SDRC is PY1668.

Do you accept any insurance for therapies?

  • At this time, we are accepting only private pay clients or San Diego Regional Center clients. However, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to insurance.

Is virtual therapy beneficial?

  • Absolutely! We are seeing a huge shift in the use of technology and are seeing many benefits in virtual therapy! Therapy is focused on educating you as the parent on how to facilitate activities and exercises throughout the week. Virtual is a great way to have therapists coach you on the best ways to reach your child’s individual goals. In addition, virtual therapy can reach people in more remote areas and pair you with a therapist that may be a great match!

What if I want virtual OT/PT/Speech but live in a different state?

  • Unfortunately due to licensure regulations, we are only able to treat children in the same state that the therapist is licensed in. Feel free to contact us for more questions!

Do I have to commit to a number of sessions when I start?

  • If you are interested in pursuing weekly sessions, we do require an evaluation to be completed before. This will help us establish a baseline and formulate appropriate, individualized goals. While a therapist will give you recommendations for how many sessions your child may benefit from, it is up to you on how many you choose to pursue.

Do you have therapists that can do feeding therapy?

  • Yes! We have a variety of feeding specialists on the team and we LOVE working on feeding!

Can I request a specific therapist?

  • Yes! This does depend on the therapist’s availability and location but if you have someone specific in mind, please let us know.

What is the sleep consulting program?

  • Jen, the owner of Special Tots, is a certified sleep consultant through My Sweet Sleeper. There are email only packages and single sessions available at this time. Sleep consulting services are all virtual and available in ALL states!

Does my child have to receive therapy services to qualify for the sleep consulting program?

  • No, the sleep consulting program is for everyone!

For the sleep consultations, do you recommend cry it out?

  • We do not recommend a cry it out approach. We also do not stick to one approach, as every child is unique. We want to use strategies that you feel comfortable with and that match your child’s needs and temperament.
